Remember my complaints about my car reeking and possibly growing mold in it?
Little did I know just how right I was.
Yes that is mold growing on the back seatbelt. That is pretty much the worst of it...pretty much
The back seats have little white spots all over them and by the driver's window mold is flourishing as well.
This is SO. NOT. COOL.
The other day when the rain was taking a hiatus I ventured out to my car to inspect for mold. I couldn't believe it when I actually found so much. I mean, how did the seatbelt start growing mold of all places? My car has a sun roof that doesn't seal tight when it's shut so when I get car washes I get my own personal shower as well. So when it rains hard here, we are assuming that is how the moisture is getting in. But why did the back seatbelt grow mold and not the other ones?
When I discovered that much mold, I grabbed my camera, took pictures and emailed them to my dad asking him what to do. Because my dad knows how to deal with everything.
So in case you were wondering, here is what I have to do:
I've been parking my car in the sun (thank heavens for the beautiful weather as of late) and rolling down the windows so it can heat up and dry out.
I will be caulking my sun roof with clear caulk to prevent further leakages.
I have called tons of places that detail cars to see if they remove mold-they do. We will probably be spending a pretty penny to get it taken care of.
I will have to buy a dehumidifier to put in my car to remove any further moisture that gets in.
I need to take my car in very soon to get the mold removed before it gets any worse, but....
I am terrified to drive it.
Mold freaks me out.

oh man this is why I hate humidity!!! So my sun roof leaks too I think I will be trying the caulk stuff you mentioned because it is gross when it leaks and I am not even dealing with mold.
