Well, we are back in Oregon for good. We had such a great Christmas vacation and we loved every minute of it! It was definitely hard to come back.
We had our own Christmas before we left for Utah-it was nice and small but it was nice to focus more on Christ's birth than on presents.
We were sure busy while we were there... here's a little recap:
-I went to a Christmas party with my high school friends. Even though I was quite late due to our change of flight, it was fun to be with everyone again.
-We had the Thomas family Christmas party on the 23. We auctioned presents with beans that my sister-in-law put together. It was quite a ruckus.
-We had the Lowe family Christmas party on Christmas Eve. We ate yummy food, read the bible Christmas story and played present games. It was a lot of fun!
-We had Christmas morning with the Lowes and delicious crepes!
-We went to the Christmas afternoon party with my mom's family. More yummy food and fun.
-We went to my cousins' homecoming and farewell (brothers).
-We played games, games, and more games!! (settlers, rook, MB, michigan rummy, yahtzee free for all, uno attack) SO much fun!
-We had our 1 year anniversary.
-We spent the afternoon of new years eve with my family partying.
-We spent the night time new years eve party with Chris' friends partying
-I went to a baby shower for my best friend!
-Chris went to the Jazz game with his dad that same night.
-I babysat my niece for the last 2 weeks of my vacation. Chris helped me the first week until he left for school. It was a lot of fun but challenging. We played lots of Barbies, Bitsy Bears, games, watched movies, played with Bana, and went swimming. She only took a nap 3 times during the 2 weeks of watching her. My favorite part was picking her up from preschool because she would be so excited to see me.
One day after picking Bre up from preschool, we stopped at Shopko on the way home so I could get a prescription refilled. While waiting til it was ready we wandered around the store and heard "I want it" and "I want that" a hundred times. Luckily we could just tell her she'd have to ask her mom, to which she responded, "I ask her, she say yes." Not sure if that means she's going to ask her and she'll say yes or what...
After getting my prescription we headed out to the car. Cambria was holding my hand in the parking lot, but walking very slowly. She was dilly-dallying sooo much and I was trying to hurry to get out of the way of the cars so I asked her what she was doing (she was walking with an exaggerated gimp) and she just said "I'm playing."
When we reached the car, another car was waiting for us so it could pull into the space next to ours. I opened the back door for Bre to get in her seat but she just stood there running her hands all along the door locks, window opener and everything. I was trying to hurry her along and decided to just pick her up and put her in her seat. As I did so, I bonked her head while putting her in. It wasn't very hard but I felt bad. Then I preceded to put her seatbelt on and I could not for the life of me get it to buckle! So I'm trying to hurry for the car waiting on us and I say in exasperation (mostly under my breath) "stupid thing!" Bre then tells me that "it's not stupid. Stupid a no-no word." So here I am saying no-no words, bonking her head, teaching her bad things and trying to hurry her all for the car waiting on us. We finally got her in, but I was quite flustered. I think it gave me a good taste of motherhood.
-After Chris flew back to Portland I spent a couple of nights at my sister's place since her hubby was traveling for work. We had a riot together, watching good movies, getting ready for bed and me going through all her fascinating stuff. Savannah and Cambria have a hard time sharing with each other so it was a bit of a challenge having them play together. My mom and I took Cambria swimming at the Murray Rec Center where she had a blast! She wore us out taking us down the big slide at least 20 times. We were there for 3 hours and Bre stilled cried when we left. Nikki brought Bana for the last half hour and she just cried and cried the whole time.
-We saw the blindside...very good movie!
-Got to hang out with my newly engaged best friend and see her gorgeous ring!!
-I went to the Draper temple with a married friend and my best friend who is leaving for a mission soon.
-We ate a Cafe Rio 4 times while we were there. Mmmmm!
Well, I hope I remembered everything!
Since we have been home...
-We have become an aunt and uncle together for the first time! We really wish we could see our new niece sometime soon...living states away is no fun.
-Had someone try to steal our car.
-Chris DIDN'T get MLK Jr. day off from school! (and he doesn't get Presidents day off either!)Isn't that illegal?!?!
-My #1 MIL (mother-in-law) sent us home with a bunch of puzzles and books! So I have been puzzling it up and loving it!
Also, we are now booking for our summer season for visitors ;) If you want to visit Oregon and see us as an added bonus (free hotel if you can fit in our place) come see us! This summer or during Chris' third year is the only time we are accepting visitors! (just kidding, we might accept you during other times too)
