goodbye summer!

This sums up how I feel about summer being over.
This was not my most favorite summer ever, but it was still a good one.
Chris had school all summer which included 2 days of clinic which he didn't get home from until 7pm.
That makes for a long day and a tired boy.
Every Friday he would get home around 7, eat dinner and then fall asleep on the floor while we'd be talking.
Proof:
Look how cute he is with his foot looped in his backpack strap and his glasses askew :)
So needless to say my Friday nights were lonely.
And Saturday nights weren't much better.
Chris is the gospel doctrine teacher in our ward...
which means that every Saturday night he is busy preparing his lesson.
They just called another person to teach every other week.
Thank heavens!
Back to the point----> we didn't do too much this summer.
Here are some of the few things we did that were captured on camera:

We moved (old news, I know) and handed what boxes we could through the window to cut down on walking back and forth around the building.

I went bald.
just kidding...I thinned my hair.
(If anyone needs some extra hair I'd be happy to donate).

I had an eye exam with Intern Lowe.
He is getting ready to look in my dilated eyes here...
not playing pin the thumb on the wall.

We got to see little miss Katelyn smile and be blessed!
Nicki, please steal these pictures and blog with them :)
Also fun is seeing my sister and responding to someone by saying the exact same thing, at the exact same time, in the EXACT same tone!
Picture from 2006 of us and my freshman 15. Hello chubby face.
(How come we have no pictures of us Nikki?)
We may be different in some ways, but we laugh and talk just like each other and our mom.
I love it.

We also went to the homecoming of one of my most favorite people!
And then I had to come back to Oregon without spending any time with her :(
(pic from snowboarding years ago).

We went to Wheeler Farm dry and left wet...from sweat.
Maybe not a good idea to go in 100+ weather...

Chris got jumped on by one bouncy little girl.

We I pigged out on pretzels while looking like a fatty.

We tried out a new beach-Oswald West.
Gorgeous and windless.

We spent some quality time with the nieces while in Utah.
Not having kids makes you an automatic favorite.

We went to Mt. St. Helens.
Where the wind was blowing like mad.
Which made us miserably decide not to hike.
 Which we now regret.

Chris ran in the Hood to Coast relay and got very little sleep.
Then he came home, stayed up late preparing a lesson for church and then finally crashed once it was over.
I have no idea why his shirt is off.
He was probably flexing in the mirror again.

We went to another new beach, this time at Manzanita.
  Again with the wind!
Chris rode an invisible air chair.
And karate chopped the wind.

And, lastly (good job if you made it this far) we did a 12 mile hike to Tunnel Falls.
 More to come on this!

See you in Salt Lake next year Summer!

Haha flexing in the mirror again. I had to teach gospel doctrine in my parents' ward for THREE YEARS after my mission. Luckily there was always a teacher for every other week. In our ward now there's 3 teachers that rotate and I've heard of some wards having 4 so you only teach once a month. That would be hard to have to do it every Sunday but I'm sure Chris is an awesome teacher. From all those pictures it looks like a fun summer to me!

Heather, your posts always get a good laugh out of me. The invisible air chair and karate chop pictures are pretty special. :) I'm glad they called another person to Gospel Doctrine! Every ward I've been in they have more than one teacher for that class. The picture of Chris asleep on the floor is pretty cute. Poor guy is working hard. Even though it wasn't your favorite summer, it looks like you were able to make some good memories!

And doing the same thing (same way, same time) as your sis! Ha! That happens so many times to me. Gotta love having sisters :)
